My best guess is b/c the Hope diamond is direclty above the dino exhibit..........both on the se corner of the building..............the side facing the dc mall, and towards the us capital...........if u wanted to take out the Hope diamond to use it for something.........u would put the place it would fall to,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,well, the dinos are below it............i guess the fed gov. figured someone was removing the thing at night..........playing night in the museum...........
