One thing is on one of the historical markers in DC, the one in front of Fudruckers on 7th and H st, nw..................there was something about gas.................natural gas..........fossil fuels..........over the years they have used different stuff to give us energy............i remember me and my maternal grandmother turning on the hot water at her house in Hyatesville..........on Adelphi rd.........she used a long match..................we lived in Rehoboth, but of course they did not want to leave on the gas........for the hot water..............and to light the pilot......it was way underneath the thing.........she was older then, and me limber...........the matches were really long.................so gas heating and gas lamps...........all around Dc u see markers for gas....................gas ranges...........for cooking, etc....
