For one...........how do we know that that pic was taken in 1919? They are hiding stuff from us..............the one taken in 1863.................by Titan Peale shows East Potomac park..........which is an island really.............u can't see any trees really from his picture............but that is b/c the photograph is not of a perfect quality...........................i bet that East Potomac park was there all along.........maybe not exactly like it is now............................they just did a little here and a little there...........

Over the years, the land became populated with many different attractions—memorials, a recreational center, and, of course, the cherry trees. The cherry trees were a gift from the mayor of Tokyo and were planted in 1912. This led to one of the most popular festivals in Washington, D.C., the National Cherry Blossom Festival.
