So............my convoluted drawing below.............is the unit circle..................as in a circle with radius 1..................................which would mean its diameter is 2..................so the square around the circle is of sides 2..................................in the bottom right quadrant........................the circle touches the x axis at point (1,0).........one unit to the right............and no units up or down..................so where the diagonal line would hit the circle into the very bottom right corner of the square would be at point (.7071, - .7071).......................or .7071 units to the right...........and .7071 units down.................the y coordinate is negative .7071.............which of course..................is the same as (square root of .5, - square root of .5).......................the angle is 45 degrees............................b/c the square has 90 degree corners..........they are all right angles............and if u cut a right angle exactly in half........u get two 45 degree angles..........
