I am relying on incomplete evidence...........i thought there are no video screens in dug outs.........i saw Dusty B looking down........but he could have been looking down at something else.....they usually have to call the booth staff....................same team staff to check to see if it is worth reviewing.............and of course they have to do it quickly.....the manager usually calls up one of the guys on a phone in the dug out to see if it is worth reviewing...........they do not have much time b/c if the game goes on ..............they cannot go back ...........in other words if the pitcher throws the next pitch...........they have lost their chance..............so they have to make a decision quickly and in a close call..........like that.......u might not have a good chance to get a good look................

One big thing to understand.............and the Nats lost the challenge........is that at 2nd base.........with no outs.................................the runner has a very good chance of scoring..........for one thing......there are no outs.............secondarily................there is no one on 1st...........so no force out at 3rd.............2nd base is considered scoring position..........b/c if a ball is hit out of the infield...........esp. deep into the outfield..............the runner at 2nd will usually score.......unless it is hit to a shallow part of the outfield.............

I am not sure if they now have tvs in the dug outs.......but the manager used to have to call up to the booth staff.........in one of the box offices.......who do have video screens............so u do not have a very big window for your own team to look at the play.............so while they lost the challenge..........i would challenge something like that.....................when in doubt............b/c a runner at 2nd......with no outs............in game 5.............................which is the last game of the 1st round............u might as well risk it........................they might have wanted to set Dusty B for failure to make him look bad.........that is actually a good challenge..............esp if he did not have video to rely on........he was watching from the dug out in real time.................................also with 2 challenges in the 1st 6 innings...............if u do not use them, u lose them............and it is not like you can cash them in for points or runs.......or something.........................i would have done the same thing..............b/c it is game 5................u lose that..............and it is......"better luck next year"...........so in a general sense it was worth the risk..........with 2 outs.......maybe not.........but at the start of the game, with no outs........................if u can get the guy out b/c the video did show that he was out...............it was worth it........
