 Happy 1/4 of a 10^3 ..............a quarter of a millenium, USMC!!! Happy birthday Marines!!!


Tun Tavern, birthplace of the Marine Corps, to be rebuilt
In 1775, Tun Tavern in Philadelphia was the birthplace of the Continental Marines. On November 10, 1775, the Continental Congress met there to approve a resolution to raise two battalions of Marines for the Revolutionary War, and Samuel Nicholas was commissioned to enlist them. The tavern, a popular spot for meetings, also hosted recruiting drives and other important historical events. 
  • Marine Corps Birthday: November 10, 1775, is the birthday of the U.S. Marine Corps, commemorating the day the Continental Marines were founded at Tun Tavern.
