So why dig?????  Well...........look at all the types of stuff the Smithsonian inst. is into............gems......archeology..........artifacts...........languages...........nature preservation.........art........fossils................u just dig...............and whatever u find u find..........with the sheer amount of potential buried treasure..................possible gemstones..............arrow heads......pottery.........art from ancient cultures...................fossils of dinos.......fish.........etc............it would be kinda like going to an antique store.............u never know what treasure u will find...........

They are digging for stuff for one thing..............archaeology...................now think Jamaica.............look at how Jamaica, Haiti, Cuba.......are in a direct line of the most logical sea routes back to Western Europe................and if u were a pirate..............where would u hide???  Haiti......on its west side...........the one facing a natural sea route...................has a bay.......Pirates cove........
