Three are seated..............but it depends how u count it..................b/c on the north side.........towards Penn ave...............are 3 stone structures...........pillars.....................the 3 figures are seated................they are on the wall on the east side of the ref. desk....................right next to a circle of stones on the ground..................................but the figures.................one of them at least.........is holding something.................so i am not sure..................also.............in the corner of the atrium...........on the very far north - side...................are tall, glass windows..........6 of them...............6 is not a F. #.............but 6 is the 1st perfect number..............b/c its divisors add up to the number itself..................6 = 1 * 2 * 3.........................................1 x 2 x 3 = 6.................also 1 + 2 + 3 = 6.............
But the numbers don't stop there....................if u stood under Calder's mobile..............u would be about in the center of the atrium................more or less ground level.................the bee hives are to the north..........................the 5 wooden stumps and the 11 metal spikes............to your east.............where the ref. desk is.............on the opposite side of it..............the east side.............is a work with three people in it............3.................a F. number...................
Interior, Atrium
Bridges and mezzanines create a vertical orientation throughout the East Building. When visitors leave one exhibition, they return to the atrium before entering another one. The triangular layout of the floor plan generates a sense of exploration: one must choose to turn left or right, go up or down.The atrium's indoor garden, which is larger than one-third of an acre, is roofed by a "space-frame" of glass pyramids. A screen of aluminum rods reduces the sunlight so that visitors' eyes adjust to the galleries, where dimmer light levels protect the works of art from fading. This space-frame roof also animates the interior by casting a changing pattern of shadows over the walls and the mobile Untitled, commissioned for this space from Alexander Calder.
