Anasazi Mythology
In the Anasazi civilization, rituals take place on certain events. Some
of these events are respecting the gods or grant blessings.
The Anasazi believed that they came through dimensions. They believed that they came through a portal called Sipapa in the sky from a lower world known as the third world into the fourth world known as this world. They believed this happened in a ceremonial chamber called Kiva. Kiva is a room with two statues of gods that brought them here.
Anasazi did not have many gods but two. Those gods were known as Tawa, the sun god and Spider women, known as the earth goddess. The Anasazi believed that the gods created this Earth for them and that they wished for peace on Earth.
Kiva has other rituals for the Anasazi. Anasazi would have religious rituals to summon the gods and spirits through Kiva. The Anasazi would do these things to grant blessings, provide protection, heal, and restore.
