At one point, the Senators were one of the best teams in MLB............taking the title in the 1920s......................and they date back to the 1800s......baseball was very big in Dc, as well as all over the USA................America's past time...........my favorite story about baseball in DC is from Duke Ellington...........who, as a kid in Dc, said that Pres. Teddy Roosevelt stopped his horse to watch him and his friends play baseball.....................Duke E's 1st job was selling peanuts at Senator's games..........he even wanted to play professionally.............most boys do,,,,,,,,,i did when i was a kid.........the NFL overtook MLB when i was a kid,,,,,,,,,,,so i dreamed of being a famous running back or wide receiver like Lynn Swann or Jerry Rice....................
