I once visited the walk of stars in Hollywood and the Chinese theater which marks the center of it..........i stayed with the same former Marine who was with me when i met my 1st wife............we worked in the same base comm center on Yuma..................i saw him here in the East and invited him to my family's Thanksgiving party...........he was on Quantico, VA for Marine security guard training................that was in my freshman year at JMU............anyways.......i saw him after i graduated JMU..........i didn't know what to do with my life.........and i thought i might move out to So. Cali..........i stayed at his girlfriends house out near La..............and they took me around La................this was like in 1997...........................

Former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and First Lady Maria Shriver announced on May 28, 2008, that Nicholson would be inducted into the California Hall of Fame, located at The California Museum for History, Women and the Arts. The induction ceremony took place on December 15, 2008, where he was inducted alongside 11 other legendary Californians.^[47][48]

In 2010, Nicholson was inducted into the New Jersey Hall of Fame.^[49]

In 2011, Nicholson received an honorary Doctor of Fine Arts degree from Brown University at its two hundred and forty-third commencement. At the ceremony, Ruth Simmons, Brown University's president, called him, "the most skilled actor of our lifetime".^[50
