My Cherokee blood comes from his wife...................Jesse Pauline Barker............her maiden name..........who was born in Ronoake, Virginia in 1914....................she was Irish, German, and Cherokee..............he was born in Ft. Scott, Ks in 1918.............they met on a blind date in the 1930s..............here in Wash Dc..........................both are buried in Oak Creek cememtary..........in Maryland............just across from the SE Wash DC line.................their 2nd born is my mother........who was born here in DC in the old Sibly................they lived in SE Wash DC at that time.....................he was drafted in teh Marine Corps towards the end of WW2.......................went to Boot camp in Parris Island, Sc.............................and b/c he was teh only man in his platoon that knew short hand and how to type.........plus he had an associates degree.............and was 26, married, and had two kids at the time..............they made him a court reporter on Parris Island....................after a little while............they shipped him to Guam..........................in the South Pacific.........................which was then the hq of forward echelon Marine Pacific.............he must have been a good secretary...............b/c they made him Gen Geiger's personal sec.............he said that there were many Marines on Guam and many different offices.................in his personal office there were only 4 men..............Gen Geiger..............was the commander of forward echelon Marine Pacific........two other Marine generals..................and private Ruddell..............my grandfather......................my fav. story he would tell me..............was that he would have his feet on the desk and be reading when Gen Geiger came in the office............and i asked him didn't he ever complain?.......................he told me no.............that he always had all his work done.......................Ft. Geiger Marine base in North Carolina is named after that same Marine gen.........




I am related to Stephen and Abraham Ruddell...............by my maternal grandfather................Paul Alexander Ruddell.................my middle name is in his honor..........................he is the man in the bottom left picture.................he was the assistant director of philately for the USPS..............that is him in the bottom left pic............on the right............................he was posing b/c of a moon stamp............this was in 1971........................
