My 1st job........outside my family................was working at the Aloha restaurant...........which was Chinese..........in Dale City, VA.............I was a bus boy with some classmates from Gar-Field.........I was 16 at the time...........my brother Dave worked there for a little while..............Nou Nou S.........was a friend from Gar-Field.........he would give me a ride home..........he was from Laos, he was really cool...............mutual friends with David W.........who was on the track team.......both of them were heavily into the martial arts............esp. kung fu..............I ran indoor track in my junior year.........but I was not very good............................indoor at Gar-Field meant running on the 1st floor..........I had shin splints.....................................those hurt tons............but it was good when I joined the USMC.........it made boot camp that much easier...............I would jog from Rehoboth to Lewes along the ocean and back down Delaware route 1, a 12 mile jog..................to get in shape............I would jog to Rehoboth Elementary.....................I could 20 pull ups dead hang..............before going to boot camp.....................................I had the highest score on the pft of anyone of the 70 men in boot camp until the last pft...................I got a 298.........just after I had walking pneumonia................4 got 300s................................I never could do under 18:00 on the 3 mile run..................the recruiter timed me on a mile and a half course....................and told me I did it in 7:45.............I told him he must have measured wrong...............all I did in the summer of 1989........................was work at my grandfather's bookstore................and get into shape for boot camp...............running every day on the beach...........and along rte 1..............they had pull up bars at the elementary school...........I had completed 8th grade there..........
