In Ken F's book......a lot of this one takes place in Latin America.............................u have to bet on how many rats it would take to kill the dog............kinda like ants........u can win against 100.......but several million ants............and it is the ants that will win.......like in Indy 4..........man eating ants.....they say they can devour a cow in 4 hours.......

So.........in the book..........the black biblioprincess that i am.........the bet is how many rats it will take to kill the dog......b/c it is only a matter of number..........no matter how good a fighter is ...........1  man..........................................it is only a matter of number of opponents.....time and exhaustion kick in sooner or later................a dog can easily beat 4 or 5...........several 100 is a lot different....
