To me, this is unfair to the players, if they do not show the Russian flag of their players on the screen, then they should not show the flags of the other players, it is not their fault for the war, politics and sports should be separate
I was watching female tennis this morning, and the Polish player had her country's flag and the Ukrainian player her country's flag on tnt's onscreen scoreboard, they should omit one, favoritism, it isn't correct
Russian tennis players are not allowed to display their national flag due to ongoing sporting sanctions implemented in response to the war in Ukraine. Governing bodies—including the ATP Tour, WTA Tour, and ITF—require them to compete as neutral athletes. [1, 2]
Because of this policy, Russian (and Belarusian) players experience the following restrictions:
- No Country Representation: Players do not represent Russia, and their home country is removed from scoreboards, television graphics, and tournament draws.
- Neutral Designation: They compete under a blank/white flag rather than the Russian tricolor.
