I started watching soccer on Tv on Univison mostly,,,,,,,,,,one of my favorites,,,,,,announcers/commentators.........other than Andres Cantor.........of "Goooooooooooooooooooooooooollllllllllll!" and a very smart man besides that was and still is Ricardo Mayorga (sp?), then with Univison, i am not sure now.....it was usually the Mexican national league they had on, but they would air the World Cup and other tournaments...........i watched a sub 20 tournament once where the USA was playing Argentina.........i think in the semis...............for Univision they commentator was Ricardo Mayroga..............he seemed to favor the American soccer team not as a sell out of his race but for the way they played..........Freddie Adu, Eddie Johnson, and i think Bobby Convey, and Landon Donavan were playing.................and the USA was winning until late, when Argentina tied the score and went on to win.............but what impressed me the most was not that day..........he made a comment later, on the sports cast of another soccer match...a man called his station and asked for his personal cell phone number to cuss him out for routing for the USA supposedly, but Ricardo Mayorga said that whoever called him was a coward and so was whoever at the network that gave the man his personal cell phone number, Mayorga said soccer is a sport that is played 11 vs 11, it is not about the coutnries, clubs or even the genders,,,,,,,it is a sport.....men play, women play, Mexicans play, Japanese play..............as a commentator u should favor the team who is playing well and giving it their best regardless of if the people playing are of the same gender, age, national origin, etc........
What is also cool about Tiger Woods and Gabby Douglas, as well as many other black or latino athletes is they serve as role models for others............
Tiger shattered records statistically, but i think what was more important about this win, and a ton of later wins.............was that he broke perceptions............here in the USA, many blacks, latinos, and others do not, or at least did not want to play golf or chess, etc..........b/c they thought of those things as white man's games...........for one, they are sports or games.........but not just for white men, or even men,,,,,,,,women can play, kids can too.........
