He is in the pic with the two men...........he is the one on the right hand side..........with glasses..........he worked for the USPS here in DC for 30 years.....................he was drafted into the Marine Corps during WW2..................went to boot camp in Parris Island, SC.................they then shipped him to Guam at one point in the South Pacific..............he was a court reporter on base at Parris Island for a while............he was 26, married and had two kids when the Marine Corps took him.........one was my mother............born here in DC..........in the old sibley hospital......................he was the only man in his boot camp platoon that knew short hand and how to type, he also had an associates degree...........when he got to Guam.........he was Gen, Geiger's personal sec.......................my fav story of his.....................was that in his office on Guam...........there were 4 men............there were tons of Marines on Guam, but in his office there were only 4.............Gen Geiger.........the commanding officer of forward echelon Marine Pacific............two other Marine generals...........and my grandfather............private Ruddell.................he went on to become the assistant director of philately for the USPS..........he even worked in the Old Post office pavilion at one point..................my middle name is in his honor............i was the 2nd grand kid born............and the 1st boy................




Paul Alexander Ruddell was born in Ft. Scott, KS in 1918...............he met his wife...........in the 1930s, here in DC, on a blind date...........she was here to be a nurse,,,,,,,,,became one.......passed nursing school, etc.............he was here to work for the USPS............that is him in a paper in 1971..............
