ISU Breaks Silence With Official Response to Olympic French Judging Scandal

French figure skating pair Laurence Fournier Beaudry and Guillaume Cizeron took home gold in the free dance competition at the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics, narrowly beating American couple Madison Chock and Evan Bates.

Beaudry and Cizeron, whose routine featured several mistakes, earned a score of 135.64. Chock and Bates scored a 134.67, despite a routine that many around the world of figure skating viewed as flawless.

One French judge scored Chock and Bates lower than any other evaluator, nearly eight points lower than Beaudry and Cizeron. The judge, identified as Jezabel Dabouis, was the only evaluator to give Chock and Bates a score lower than 130.
