The date of May 10th is significant, as it is the day she married Prince Khurram (later Shah Jahan) in 1612 or 1613, several years after their initial engagement. Although she was his third wife, Mumtaz Mahal was his most beloved companion, and he built the Taj Mahal as her mausoleum after her death in 1631
