The 1998–99 NBA lockout, which lasted for more than six months and forced the 1998–99 season to be shortened to 50 regular season games per team. The 2011 NBA lockout, which lasted for over five months and forced the 2011–12 season to be shortened to 66 regular season games per team.

The 2011 NBA lockout was the fourth lockout in the history of the National Basketball Association (NBA). The owners began the work stoppage upon expiration of the 2005 collective bargaining agreement (CBA). The 161-day lockout began on July 1, 2011 and ended on December 8, 2011.
