VIRGINIA........more us pres. from there than anywhere.........where my kid was born, still have not seen her...............in over 12 years..........or so.......but i will c her for father's day....accord 2 Us gov.....nothing but lies...

Virginia's state motto, "Sic semper tyrannis," is Latin for "Thus always to tyrants." It was adopted in 1776 and symbolizes the state's rejection of tyranny and its commitment to libertyThe motto, recommended by George Mason, is featured on the Virginia state seal and flag, alongside imagery of virtue triumphing over tyranny.
The phrase "Sic semper tyrannis" has a rich history, originating from ancient Rome. It is famously attributed to Brutus after the assassination of Julius Caesar, who was seen as a tyrant by some. The motto gained further notoriety when John Wilkes Booth shouted it after killing Abraham Lincoln, further associating it with resistance to perceived tyranny.
In the context of Virginia's history, the motto is a powerful statement against oppression. It reflects the colonists' struggle against British rule and their desire for self-governance. The image on the state seal further reinforces this sentiment, with Virtue (symbolizing Virginia) standing over a fallen Tyranny, his broken chains and fallen crown symbolizing the end of oppression
