A lot of people do not realize certain things............just b/c they are so used to the world as it is now..............the human race did not begin to fly until like 1905.................and large commercial airlines didn't really appear until the 1950s....................the whole reason why the US Marine Corps attacked Iwo Jima in the 1940s.............was b/c they did not have long range bombers that were capable of reaching Tokyo or anywhere else on the main islands of Japan from Hawaii......................the development of big commercial airline was mainly b/c of the effort to develop planes that could fly long distances............

The 1st World Cup was in Uruguay.............they picked Uruguay b/c in 1930 they were celebrating 100 years of independence from Spain................a lot of European countries were not going to send their teams to compete..............and the Uruguayans cried racism...............back then the political situation in Europe was not good..............they were recovering from WW1 still..............and in a depression..........which is why Hitler came to power...................i am relating this story for several reasons....................for one...........1930.................the trip to Uruguay from Europe.............was really only by ship...............a trip that might take 3 or 4 months...................1930 is only 85 years ago..........the World Cup last year was only slightly North............in Brazil................i don't think the European teams took 4 months to reach Uruguay.............
