I left the Marine Corps a full month early to attend college...............................I started attending JMU in August of 1993..............................right after serving in the USMC......active duty for almost 4 years..........it was a four year enlistment............and was 4 years.........but the Marine Corps had a program.............that if u were accepted to college and you had enough leave on the books to make up between your discharge date and the beg. of the college semester u could leave early..........I enlisted on Sept 22, 1989..........................and I had like 60 days of leave.........and I had an acceptance letter from JMU...................................
