The "Miracle of Bern" refers to the 1954 FIFA World Cup final where West Germany, considered underdogs, defeated the heavily favored Hungarian "Golden Team" 3-2, coming back from a 2-0 deficit in a rain-soaked match in Bern, Switzerland, a historic upset that boosted German post-war national pride. Hungary scored early goals, but West Germany fought back with goals from Max Morlock, Helmut Rahn (who scored the winner), and a late equalizer, securing their first World Cup title.
