When Rev. Cornelius Ruddell was born on 5 August 1769, in Lost River, Hardy, Virginia, United States, his father, Stephen Ruddell, was 45 and his mother, Mary Byrd, was 42. He married Margaret Wilson on 22 January 1788. They were the parents of at least 6 sons and 5 daughters. He lived in Clark, Indiana, United States in 1840. He died on 15 July 1849, in Utica, Knox, Northwest Territory, United States, at the age of 79, and was buried in Watson, Utica Township, Clark, Indiana, United States.
