James H was the last of 9, Pop was last of 3, i met his older brother Bill, a postal inspector in Kansas City, Kansas, and Marian, school teacher, Indy's girlfriend, daughter of his mentor in archeology, Ravenwood.

When James Henry Ruddell was born on 14 January 1874, in Charlestown, Charlestown Township, Clark, Indiana, United States, his father, Alexander T. Ruddell, was 51 and his mother, Catharine Anne Haymaker, was 48. He married Bessie May Waters on 18 November 1897, in Louisville, Jefferson, Kentucky, United States. They were the parents of at least 2 sons and 1 daughter. He lived in Coal Township, Vernon, Missouri, United States in 1910 and Fort Scott, Bourbon, Kansas, United States for about 10 years. He died in 1938, at the age of 64, and was buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Fort Scott, Bourbon, Kansas, United States.
