The primary "United Nations court" is the International Court of Justice (ICJ), also known as the World Court, which serves as the UN's principal judicial organ to settle legal disputes between states and provide advisory opinions on legal questions. Located in The Hague, Netherlands, the ICJ consists of 15 judges elected for nine-year terms, handling cases based on international law and serving as a key source of international jurisprudence. 
Key Functions & Role:
  • Dispute Resolution: Settles legal conflicts submitted by member states, such as boundary disputes, treaty violations, or diplomatic incidents.
  • Advisory Opinions: Gives non-binding legal advice to authorized UN organs and agencies on complex international law questions.
  • Principal Judicial Organ: Established by the UN Charter, it's one of the six main organs of the United Nations
